How storm water cleanup works

We plan the work around how water entered, which materials are affected, and whether the source has been addressed. Cleanup and drying are separate from roof, exterior, and structural repairs.

1. Confirm access and the water source

Tell us when water first came in, whether it is still entering, and which rooms are affected. Arrival depends on road access, your location, weather, and available crews. A roofer, electrician or structural specialist may need to make the area safe before we can reach the water damage.

2. Assess affected materials and moisture

We inspect the wet areas and take moisture readings. Thermal images can help us find places to check, but the meter confirms moisture. We’ll explain what we found and any hidden areas we couldn’t reach.

3. Extract accessible water

We remove accessible standing water and assess flooring, padding, walls, and contents. Incoming outdoor floodwater may require a different cleanup approach from a recent roof leak. The source, exposure, and material condition affect what can remain and what may need removal.

4. Clean and prepare the affected area

We explain any removal needed to reach wet areas, then clean the surfaces we can access. The leak still needs fixing; cleaning and drying won’t stop water coming back in.

5. Dry and track progress

We set up air movers and dehumidifiers for the wet areas and check moisture readings as drying progresses. The time needed depends on what is wet, how much water there is, humidity and access. A set number of days doesn’t tell us whether the building is dry.

6. Document the work and repair needs

Photos, moisture readings, and work descriptions record the cleanup and drying. We identify remaining access limits or repair needs. Roof replacement, exterior work, and rebuilding should be confirmed separately with the contractor responsible for that work. Your insurer determines coverage and claim decisions.

Roof leaks and incoming floodwater need different plans

Tell us whether water came through a ceiling or damaged opening, or rose into the building from outside. Where it entered and how it spread affect the cleanup, material decisions, and drying access.

Moisture assessment beyond the visible stain

A ceiling stain may be only one part of the affected area. We compare moisture readings in accessible materials and discuss any concealed spaces that need further investigation. Roof and exterior source repair remains a separate task.

Extraction is the first stage, not the entire job

After we remove standing water, we check for moisture beneath floors and inside walls. That shows us what still needs drying.

For water entering from outside at ground level, see flood cleanup. For a separate assessment or written report, compare moisture inspection and report options.

The drying work after water gets inside

Stopping the leak is only the beginning. These job photos show how we dry wet areas and check the moisture that remains.

Plan your storm response

Information to have ready

Share your location, when water appeared, the affected rooms, flooring types and whether water is still entering. Tell us about road access and any source repairs. Photos from accessible areas help explain what you can see.

Document the loss and ask about coverage

Keep photos, repair notes and receipts, and notify your insurer promptly. Your policy and the source of the water determine coverage. Most homeowners policies exclude outdoor flooding; flood insurance is separate. See our flood cleanup and insurance guide and the Texas Department of Insurance water-damage guidance.

We document cleanup and moisture findings. Roof repair, electrical work and rebuilding are confirmed separately with the appropriate contractor.

Storm water damage questions

Do you repair roofs or structural damage?

We handle the water cleanup, moisture checks, and structural drying. Roof repairs, electrical work, and rebuilding need the right contractor. We’ll make clear which parts of the job we’re handling.

Can a roof leak leave hidden moisture?

Yes. Water may reach insulation, wall cavities, and flooring beyond the visible stain. We assess accessible materials and explain areas that cannot be evaluated without further access. A thermal image helps guide investigation but needs moisture readings for context.

How long does drying take?

The amount of water, material type, humidity, and access affect duration. We track readings to evaluate progress rather than promise the same drying time for every storm loss.

What if outdoor floodwater entered?

Let us know the source. Incoming floodwater may require a different cleanup and material-removal plan. See flood cleanup or sewage cleanup for related contaminated-water services.

Can you provide documentation?

We can record photos, work descriptions, and moisture findings. For a separate assessment or written report, see moisture inspections and reports. Your insurer decides coverage and payment.

Will you arrive immediately during a widespread storm?

We’re standing by and ready to help. Call us to get started. Weather, road access, distance, and demand affect scheduling. We’re ready to help and will explain the response plan and expected arrival timing for your property.
